WASHINGTON, D.C. — (April 30, 2026) — New polling data is raising fresh questions about President Donald Trump’s standing with American voters, particularly on one of the most critical issues heading into the 2026 election cycle — inflation and the cost of living.

Pollster G. Elliott Morris drew attention this week after revealing that the president’s approval numbers on inflation were so low that they effectively exceeded the limits of his data visualization tools.

“Trump literally broke the scale of this graph on my data portal,” Morris wrote, highlighting the sharp decline in public approval tied to economic concerns.

The findings come as broader polling trends indicate mounting challenges for the Trump administration across several key areas, including economic management, immigration policy, and public trust. Analysts note that inflation remains a dominant issue for voters, with cost-of-living pressures continuing to shape national sentiment.

According to the Strength in Numbers/Verasight poll conducted earlier this month, with a margin of error of ±2.6 percent, Trump’s approval ratings have declined across multiple categories — with the steepest drop recorded on inflation and cost-of-living concerns.

Data released from the April 10–14 survey shows a consistent downward trajectory in voter confidence, reinforcing concerns among political analysts about the administration’s economic messaging and policy effectiveness.

Trump Hits New Approval Low on Inflation and Cost of Living

As of April 30, the poll indicates that Trump’s approval rating on inflation and cost of living sits more than 40 points underwater — one of the lowest marks recorded in recent surveys.

Beyond economic concerns, the same poll found shifting attitudes among voters on broader political accountability. A majority of respondents expressed support for impeachment proceedings, including a notable share of voters who previously backed Trump in the 2024 election.

Political analysts say the data reflects a volatile and rapidly evolving electorate, where economic pressures and policy decisions are playing an increasingly central role in shaping public opinion ahead of the next national election cycle.

With inflation continuing to dominate voter concerns, the coming months are expected to test how effectively political leaders can respond to economic anxieties and rebuild confidence among the American public.
