WASHINGTON, D.C. — (11-16-24) — Progressive democrats are blaming the spike in LGBT youth crisis hotline calls on president-elect Donald Trump’s victory on Nov 5. In fact last Friday, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, who won reelection in Massachusetts’s 7th Congressional District, attempted to link the surge in calls to LGBT youth crisis hotlines to Trump’s victory by releasing the following statement;
“LGBTQ+ youth crisis hotlines saw a 700% spike in calls after Election Day. It is undeniable that this is the result of the incoming Republican administration denying queer and trans people their basic humanity. You are seen and loved and there is help if you are in crisis,” said Rep. Pressley.
In this reporter’s opinion, “One has to remember that president-elect Trump has not taken office yet nor have any of his cabinet choices been confirmed by the U.S. Senate so – everyone should take a deep breath, have a massage, and relax. The last thing we need do is push upon LGBTQ youth are fear mongering tactics.
