Trump Pushes Regional Peace Deal While Netanyahu Orders “Strong Blows” Against Hezbollah

JRL CHARTS ASIA NEWS — (May 25, 2026) — Tensions across the Middle East escalated dramatically Monday after United States forces launched strikes on missile launch sites and suspected mine-laying vessels in southern Iran, while senior Iranian negotiators traveled to Qatar for high-level talks aimed at preventing a wider regional war.

A spokesperson for the US military described the operation as a “self-defence action” following increased threats to American naval assets operating in the Persian Gulf and surrounding waterways.

Iranian state-linked media outlets reported explosions near the strategic southern port city of Bandar Abbas, a critical shipping hub that has become a focal point in the rapidly expanding US-Israel-Iran conflict.

The military strikes come as diplomatic pressure intensifies behind closed doors in Qatar, where Tehran officials are reportedly meeting with regional intermediaries to discuss key sticking points tied to a possible ceasefire framework involving both the United States and Israel.

Tehran Signals Progress — But Warns No Deal Is Imminent

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman attempted to cool speculation surrounding an immediate breakthrough, cautioning reporters that while “certain progress” had been made during preliminary negotiations, no final agreement was close.

Regional observers say Qatar has emerged as one of the final remaining diplomatic channels capable of facilitating communication between Washington, Tehran and Gulf allies as fears grow that the conflict could spill deeper into Lebanon, Syria and the broader Gulf region.

The diplomatic effort also arrives amid mounting economic anxiety as oil markets, shipping insurers and global investors continue monitoring instability surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump Calls for Expanded Abraham Accords Deal

President Donald Trump added a new geopolitical layer to the negotiations by declaring that any future agreement with Iran should include expanded participation from regional powers under the Abraham Accords framework.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said countries including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye should eventually normalize relations with Israel as part of a broader Middle East stabilization effort.

The proposal is expected to face strong resistance from hardline factions inside Iran and allied militant groups throughout the region.

Netanyahu Expands Pressure on Hezbollah

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signaled a widening military campaign against Hezbollah forces operating in Lebanon.

Netanyahu ordered what he called “strong blows” against the Iran-backed armed group, declaring that Israel remains “at war” with Hezbollah despite ongoing international calls for de-escalation.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported that Israeli military operations since March 2 have killed at least 3,185 people and wounded more than 9,600 others.

Heavy air strikes reportedly targeted areas within Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa Valley as well as multiple locations in southern Lebanon on Monday.

Fears Grow of Wider Regional Conflict

Military analysts warn that the simultaneous escalation involving Iran, Israel and Hezbollah could trigger a broader regional confrontation involving Gulf states, proxy militias and international naval forces operating in the Middle East.

The latest developments have already heightened security concerns across global energy markets and international shipping corridors, particularly near the Persian Gulf.

Diplomatic officials in Doha are expected to continue talks throughout the week as pressure mounts for all sides to avoid a larger multi-front war.
