SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA — (August 7, 2026) — NOWZ may have just found the song that pushes the five-member group into a much bigger K-pop conversation.

Released August 5 through Cube Entertainment, the official music video for “Achilles” has already generated more than 2.8 million views as of this report, delivering an impressive early response for Hyeonbin, Yoon, Yeonwoo, Jinhyuk and Siyun.

And this time, NOWZ is taking its sound somewhere noticeably different.

‘Achilles’ Brings 1980s Disco Into NOWZ’s New Era

“Achilles” reinterprets 1980s funk and disco through a modern K-pop lens, replacing some of the harder rock, EDM and hip-hop energy heard across NOWZ’s recent releases with something smoother, addictive and decidedly more mature.

The song uses the legendary Achilles metaphor in an unexpected way: even someone seemingly invincible can have a weakness. For NOWZ, that weakness is falling in love — capturing the confusion and vulnerability that can come when one person suddenly breaks through someone’s defenses.

The members have dubbed their new concept “zero sexy,” describing it as a more natural and refined approach to showing a mature side of the group.

Is ‘Achilles’ Part of a New NOWZ Album?

Not yet — at least according to what Cube Entertainment has announced.

“Achilles” is officially a digital single, rather than the announced title track of a forthcoming album. Cube began teasing the release in late July and confirmed an August 5 digital-single launch.

It marks NOWZ’s first Korean release in approximately 10 months and follows the group’s Japanese debut EP, NOWZ, released in March 2026.

The release also continues a striking run of genre experimentation. NOWZ previously tackled rock with “EVERGLOW,” EDM with “HomeRUN” and heavier hip-hop through Japanese track “AMMO (Feat. YRD Leo).” Now, “Achilles” adds funk and disco to the group’s expanding musical identity.

With more than 2.8 million views in roughly two days, “Achilles” is generating the kind of early momentum that could introduce NOWZ to a much broader international audience.

Whether “Achilles” eventually leads into another album remains to be seen. For now, Cube Entertainment is treating the track as its own digital-single comeback — and the early numbers suggest NOWZ may have a hit on their hands.
