LAS VEGAS, NV — (November 11, 2025) — Two of China’s most popular Blued and Finka Gay Dating Apps have vanished from Apple and Android stores across mainland China, sparking global concern over a renewed digital crackdown on LGBT visibility.
According to multiple reports, both apps were removed following an order from the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC). Apple confirmed to Wired that it complied with Chinese law, stating: “We follow the laws in the countries where we operate.”

While existing users can still access the apps, new downloads are now limited to the developers’ official websites. Neither Blued nor Finka have released public statements.
Founded in 2012, Blued grew into Asia’s largest gay social network, boasting over 40 million users worldwide and expanding into livestreaming and health initiatives. Its parent company acquired Finka in 2020 to consolidate the region’s LGBTQ+ market.
Homosexuality has been legal in China since 1997, but LGBT advocacy has steadily eroded under tightening censorship. From the shutdown of Shanghai Pride in 2020 to recent film edits erasing same-sex couples, the country’s queer representation has been forced deeper underground.
A founder of a local LGBT organization told JRL CHARTS, “The living space for sexual minorities has been shrinking for years, but this move hits our online lifeline too. Blued helped so many feel seen for the first time.”
For now, it remains unclear whether the removal is temporary or part of a long-term policy to tighten control over China’s digital LGBT community.
