This second look at the epic miniseries dives deeper into Kaʻiana’s legendary journey during the unification of the Hawaiian Islands — and it’s packed with breathtaking visuals, brutal warfare, and a star-studded cast.

Created by Thomas Paʻa Sibbett and Jason Momoa, Chief of War follows the story of Kaʻiana, a noble warrior of Kauaʻi who travels abroad, returns home as one of the most famous Hawaiians alive, and joins the campaign to unify the islands—only to question the cost of that unity. The nine-episode series premieres exclusively on Apple TV+ on August 1, 2025.

The miniseries stars Jason Momoa as Kaʻiana, Temuera Morrison as Chief Kahekili, and Luciane Buchanan as Kaʻahumanu.
