Jason Momoa Leads ‘Chief of War’ Premiering August 1 on Apple TV+

LAS VEGAS, NV — (May 23, 2025) — Apple TV+ has unveiled the official trailer for its upcoming historical action-drama Chief of War, starring Jason Momoa in a gripping, indigenous-led epic set to premiere on August 1, 2025.

A passion project for creators Jason Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, Chief of War follows the unification of the Hawaiian Islands at the turn of the 18th century. Told from a rarely-seen native Hawaiian perspective, the series promises a bold, action packed retelling of the islands’ violent history of colonization and resistance.

“Chief of War” is a cultural milestone—starring a predominantly Polynesian cast and created by native Hawaiian talent.
