HAUPPAUGE, NY — (09-11-24) — New York LGBT Network’s launched its first ‘Rainbow Rides Car Meet’ event in Hauppauge to raise money and awareness to fight bullying. The organization said that their mission is to combat hate and bullying in schools.
The New York LGBT Network held its inaugural ‘Rainbow Rides Car Meet’ in Hauppauge lats Sunday to raise money for their anti-bullying initiative. The event featured a variety of cars including muscle cars and vintage models.
According to statistics released in 2024, “Nine out of 10 LGBT kids hear anti-LGBTQ remarks every single day at school – 30% to 40% of LGBT kids are harassed whether it’s physically or verbally in school every single day,” said New York’s LGBT Network’s CEO Robert Vitelli. “So, what we’re trying to do is continue to increase awareness and help kids understand what that experience is for other kids.” said Vitelli.
