HYATTSVILLE, MD — (10-07-22) — Lisbeth Melendez Rivera, well known Lesbian activist and diversity consultant, lost her race for the Hyattsville City Council by only 17 votes in a three-candidate special election on Tuesday.
The Hyattsville Board of Supervisors of Elections posted on its official website that candidate Emily Strab had 280 votes, Melendez Rivera had 263 votes, and candidate Kelly Burello had 152 votes.
Melendez Rivera currently operates BQN Consulting, a firm she founded to provide support services related to organizing, training and capacity building, according to the firm’s website.
BQN Consulting’s website also states that from 2014 to 2017, she served as Director of Latinx & Catholic Initiatives for the Human Rights Campaign, the D.C.-based national LGBTQ advocacy organization.
