MARYLAND – (10-17-19) – U.S. Congressional House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D), who has represented Maryland’s 7th congressional district for two decades, has died at 68, from health complications.
Rep. Elijah Cummings passed away around 2:45 a.m. (EST) at Johns Hopkins Hospital, according to a press release by his office.

According to the statement, Rep. Cummings succumbed to “complications concerning longstanding health conditions.”
Cummings leaves his post as the House Oversight Committee Chair and a long-serving Democratic congressman with honors.
