LAS VEGAS — JRL CHARTS LGBT Politics follows the escalating battle over Texas’ Senate Bill 12, a sweeping law passed in June 2025 that bans diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in K–12 public and charter schools. It also prohibits discussions and protections related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and race, and bans LGBTQ student clubs like GSAs.

Advocacy groups—the ACLU of Texas, Transgender Law Center, GSA Network, and Students Engaged in Advancing Texas—along with a Plano teacher and a student, have filed a federal lawsuit challenging the law’s constitutionality, arguing it violates First and Fourteenth Amendment rights, the Equal Access Act, and silences LGBTQ voices.

This legal challenge has national stakes and poses a critical test of whether states can legally erase LGBTQ identity from school life. JRL CHARTS will continue to track the case, legislative updates, community responses, and broader implications for LGBTQ inclusivity in education.
