Richard Lukunku is a Congolese–South African actor celebrated for his versatility on screen. Born in the Republic of Congo and raised in South Africa, he trained at AFDA — The School for the Creative Economy.
Since his career began around 2010, Lukunku has taken on a variety of roles across television and film: from early appearances in shows like Inkaba, Mshika-shika and Ashes to Ashes, to gaining international recognition for his role as Joshua in the acclaimed series Black Sails (2014–2015).
Over the years, he’s expanded his range — appearing in films such as The Siege of Jadotville (2016), The Lucky Specials (2017), and more recently, taking a leading role in the action-thriller Hunting Jessica Brok (2025).
