LAS VEGAS — JRL CHARTS LGBT Politics follows the ground-breaking Plano Teacher Lawsuit, in which a Plano ISD teacher (under pseudonym Polly Poe) and LGBTQ student clubs, represented by the ACLU of Texas and advocacy groups like GSA Network and Students Engaged in Advancing Texas, have filed suit to prevent enforcement of Texas Senate Bill 12 (SB 12). The law bans DEI initiatives, restricts discussion of gender identity and sexual orientation, and prohibits LGBTQ student clubs like GSAs. Plaintiffs argue these provisions violate First and Fourteenth Amendment rights, Equal Access protections, and free speech—posing serious threats to LGBTQ student safety and expression.

The lawsuit names State Education Commissioner Mike Morath and school districts including Plano, Houston, and Katy ISDs. Critics warn SB 12’s vague wording invites discriminatory enforcement and erasure of LGBTQ identities. The case opens a critical legal front in the fight for LGBTQ inclusion in public schools.
