PORTLAND, Oregon — (June 23, 2026) — Law enforcement authorities in Oregon have dismantled an alleged robbery crew accused of targeting multiple adult retail businesses during a month-long crime spree that stretched across the Portland metropolitan area.

According to court records, investigators identified 38-year-old Brandon Ray Payne as the alleged leader of a robbery operation responsible for a series of armed hold-ups at adult-oriented retail stores throughout May.

Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau and Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office say the suspects used a similar method during each incident, entering businesses armed with a handgun, demanding cash, and quickly fleeing the scene.

Adult Retailers Report Similar Robbery Tactics

Authorities say the first reported robbery occurred on May 1 at Fantasyland 2 in Clackamas. Investigators allege Payne entered the store displaying a handgun while a second suspect, identified as 35-year-old Joseph Chase Anderson, collected cash from the register.

Court documents indicate both suspects wore masks and gloves during the robbery.

Just days later, another Fantasyland location in Southeast Portland was reportedly targeted using a nearly identical approach. Investigators allege the suspects stole cash and merchandise before fleeing.

A third suspect, 37-year-old Renxia Adam Sakda, is accused of assisting with surveillance and planning activities connected to several of the incidents.

Investigators Link Multiple Robberies Through Surveillance Evidence

Detectives say surveillance footage and investigative leads connected the suspects to several robberies at adult retail locations, including Taboo Video and All Adult Video.

In one incident, authorities allege a store employee attempted to defend herself after reaching for pepper spray during a confrontation. Court documents state she was struck during the encounter before the suspects fled the business.

Investigators also reviewed surveillance footage, witness statements, and additional evidence that allegedly tied the suspects to multiple locations throughout the robbery spree.

Stolen Vehicles Allegedly Used During Crime Spree

Authorities further allege that at least two stolen vehicles were used during the commission of several robberies.

Court records indicate a Chevrolet Impala was allegedly taken from a local auto dealership and later appeared on surveillance footage connected to multiple incidents. Investigators also linked a stolen Hyundai Elantra to the ongoing investigation.

Law enforcement officials eventually executed a search warrant at Payne’s residence, where investigators reportedly recovered a loaded handgun believed to be consistent with the firearm seen in surveillance footage from several robberies.

Multiple Suspects Face Serious Charges

Payne and Sakda were arrested on May 29 and later arraigned on numerous felony charges, including robbery-related offenses. Anderson was subsequently arrested and arraigned on multiple robbery charges as well.

According to court records, all three suspects remain in custody without bail while criminal proceedings continue.

Prosecutors also noted that the defendants have prior criminal histories, including previous robbery-related convictions.

Retail Security Remains a Growing Concern

The case highlights ongoing security challenges facing specialty retailers, including adult-oriented businesses that often operate during extended hours and may handle significant cash transactions.

Industry experts continue to encourage retailers to invest in surveillance technology, employee safety training, cash management protocols, and emergency response procedures to help reduce the risks associated with organized retail crime.

As the case moves through the court system, authorities say the investigation remains active.
