The story follows Balthazar, a wealthy teenager attending a private school in New York who spends his evenings recording videos condemning gun violence in front of a ring light. While his activism is framed as moral advocacy, his true motivation is somewhat more personal — he hopes the posts will catch the attention of a girl he’s trying to impress.
However, the situation spirals into something far darker when an anonymous internet troll begins responding to his videos with increasingly disturbing comments. As the online exchanges intensify, Balthazar becomes convinced that the person behind the account may actually be planning a school shooting.
Driven by a mix of paranoia, self-righteous determination, and youthful recklessness, Balthazar embarks on an impulsive cross-country journey to Texas to confront the commenter himself.
