WASHINGTON — (March 12, 2026) — Several stars from Bravo’s hugely popular reality television franchise “The Real Housewives” are preparing to bring their cultural influence to Capitol Hill next week in an effort to raise awareness about HIV prevention and expand access to lifesaving medications such as pre-exposure prophylaxis, widely known as PrEP.

The advocacy event, scheduled for March 18, will feature appearances by reality television personalities including NeNe Leakes, Phaedra Parks, Candiace Dillard Bassett, Erika Jayne, Luann de Lesseps, Melissa Gorga, and Marysol Patton.

The initiative, dubbed “Housewives on the Hill,” is being organized by MISTR, a leading telehealth provider specializing in sexual health services including HIV prevention and treatment. The company’s founder and CEO, Tristan Schukraft, will accompany the reality television stars during their meetings with lawmakers and congressional staff.

Reality Television Meets Public Health Advocacy

Organizers say the goal of the event is to use the massive audience reach of the Bravo franchise to bring national attention to HIV prevention strategies and the need for broader access to PrEP medications.

Public health experts say PrEP remains one of the most effective tools available for preventing HIV transmission. When taken consistently, the medication can reduce the risk of contracting HIV through sexual contact by up to 99 percent, according to federal health officials.

Advocates argue that expanding access to PrEP through insurance coverage, telehealth services, and federal health programs remains a critical component of the United States’ long-term strategy to reduce new HIV infections.

Capitol Hill Meetings Planned

During their visit to Washington, the reality television personalities are expected to meet with members of Congress and legislative staff to discuss policies affecting HIV prevention programs and sexual health services across the country.

The group will also highlight the importance of maintaining federal support for public health initiatives aimed at reducing HIV transmission rates, particularly among communities disproportionately affected by the virus.

Advocacy groups have increasingly turned to high-profile cultural figures to amplify public health messaging, recognizing that celebrity voices can often bring broader public attention to complex health policy issues.

Expanding Awareness Through Cultural Influence

The “Housewives on the Hill” initiative represents a unique intersection of entertainment culture and public health advocacy.

By leveraging the visibility of one of television’s most recognizable reality franchises, organizers hope to reach audiences that may not traditionally engage with discussions about HIV prevention policy.

Supporters of the initiative say the effort underscores the continuing importance of education, prevention, and access to care as the United States works toward reducing new HIV infections nationwide.

Public health advocates argue that ensuring affordable and accessible PrEP medications remains essential to maintaining progress made in HIV prevention over the past decade.
