LAS VEGAS, NV — (December 27, 2025) — Hollywood powerhouse Tyler Perry is facing renewed legal turmoil after a second male actor filed a sexual assault lawsuit, accusing the billionaire filmmaker of misconduct and seeking $77 million in damages.

The explosive new complaint, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, comes from Mario Rodriguez, an aspiring actor who previously appeared in Perry’s 2016 film Boo! A Madea Halloween. Rodriguez alleges that Perry subjected him to unwanted sexual advances during a private encounter at Perry’s Los Angeles residence.

According to the lawsuit, Rodriguez claims that after being offered a role in the film, he and Perry shared drinks before going to Perry’s private theater to watch a movie. During that time, Perry allegedly began touching Rodriguez’s leg and inner thigh in a sexually suggestive manner.

The filing further alleges that when Rodriguez attempted to excuse himself, Perry made an explicit offer implying career advancement in exchange for sexual activity — a claim that, if proven, would represent a serious abuse of power in Hollywood’s casting system.

Rodriguez is also suing Lionsgate, the studio that distributed the Madea film, claiming the company ignored warning signs and failed to intervene.

Perry’s legal team forcefully denied the accusations. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Perry’s attorney Alex Spiro dismissed the lawsuit as a financial shakedown.

“Having recently failed in another matter against Mr. Perry, the very same lawyer has now made yet another demand from more than a decade ago which will also be a failed money grab,” Spiro said.

The lawsuit marks the second sexual misconduct claim against Perry this year.

Earlier in 2025, actor Derek Dixon, who appeared in Perry’s television series The Oval and Ruthless, sued the media mogul for allegedly using his industry influence to sexually exploit him. Dixon claims Perry groped him and made repeated sexual propositions. That lawsuit seeks $260 million in punitive damages and has been transferred to federal court in Georgia.

Despite the explosive allegations, Perry has not yet been formally served in Rodriguez’s new lawsuit, according to his legal team.

Perry has previously spoken publicly about surviving childhood sexual abuse, revealing in a 2010 interview with Oprah Winfrey that he was assaulted by multiple individuals before the age of ten — a trauma he has said deeply shaped his life.

As multiple lawsuits now move through the courts, Perry’s once carefully guarded public image faces one of the most serious tests of his career.
