LAS VEGAS, NV — (December 24, 2025) — In yet another holiday-season outburst, President Donald Trump used what was supposed to be a Christmas greeting to lash out at millions of Americans, labeling his political opponents “Radical Left Scum” in a social media rant that underscored his ongoing pattern of attacking the very people he is sworn to serve.

Trump spent part of Christmas Eve at Mar-a-Lago taking phone calls from children across the country as part of a traditional NORAD Santa-tracking event. During those calls, he chatted with kids about their holiday wishes, joking with them and even boasting about election victories. But just hours later, the tone shifted dramatically.
On his Truth Social account, Trump issued what he called a holiday greeting — but quickly turned it into a political broadside aimed at Americans who oppose him:
“Merry Christmas to all, including the Radical Left Scum that is doing everything possible to destroy our Country, but are failing badly. We no longer have Open Borders, Men in Women’s Sports, Transgender for Everyone, or Weak Law Enforcement. What we do have is a Record Stock Market and 401K’s, Lowest Crime numbers in decades, No Inflation, and yesterday, a 4.3 GDP, two points better than expected. Tariffs have given us Trillions of Dollars in Growth and Prosperity, and the strongest National Security we have ever had. We are respected again, perhaps like never before. God Bless America!!! President DJT”
The message drew immediate criticism for its combative language and sweeping claims, particularly as it came during a holiday traditionally associated with unity and goodwill. Civil rights advocates and LGBTQ leaders have long warned that Trump’s rhetoric — especially around transgender Americans and political opponents — contributes to increased hostility and social division.
Earlier in the day, Trump spoke with a young boy from Pennsylvania, telling him he liked the state because, “We won Pennsylvania, actually, three times.” In reality, Trump won the state in two of the three general elections held between 2016 and 2024. After the boy shared his Christmas wish list, Trump replied, “Well, you’ll get all of it,” as the child’s mother listened on.
In another call, a little girl told Trump she did not want coal for Christmas. The president responded with a joking but political aside:
“No, you don’t want– well, coal is– you mean clean, beautiful coal,” Trump said, laughing. “I had to do that, I’m sorry. No, coal is clean and beautiful, please remember that at all costs. But you don’t want clean, beautiful coal, right?”
The contrast between Trump’s lighthearted interactions with children and his harsh political messaging just hours later highlighted what many critics see as a troubling pattern: using moments meant to bring Americans together as platforms for insults, division, and self-promotion.
For LGBTQ Americans and other marginalized communities, Trump’s reference to issues like transgender rights and “men in women’s sports” served as yet another reminder that his administration continues to frame their existence as a political target rather than a matter of civil rights and human dignity.
