Attorneys representing Segpay confirmed that the case was voluntarily dismissed following discussions with the Attorney General’s office. Michigan-based attorney Corey Silverstein, who represents Segpay, said the company welcomed the outcome.
“Segpay is very pleased with the outcome and grateful that the Florida Attorney General’s office worked collaboratively with our legal team to understand the facts and resolve the matter thoroughly,” Silverstein said in a statement.
Legal Representation and Court Filing
Silverstein serves as counsel to Lawrence Walters of the Walters Law Group, based in Longwood, Florida. Walters acted as lead defense counsel in the Florida case against Segpay. A filing with the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court in Sarasota County confirms that both parties entered into a joint stipulation for voluntary dismissal, formally closing the matter.
Background: Florida’s Age Verification Enforcement
The lawsuit against Segpay stemmed from enforcement actions launched in September 2025, when Uthmeier filed separate complaints against Segpay and Aylo, the parent company of Pornhub, alleging violations of Florida’s age verification law.
Florida’s age verification statute, enacted under House Bill 3, has been widely criticized by digital rights advocates, adult industry stakeholders, and civil liberties groups for its compliance burdens and potential constitutional implications.
Uthmeier’s office has also pursued legal action against companies operating major adult tube sites, including XVideos and XNXX. In those cases, the Attorney General alleged not only age verification violations but also breaches of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, citing purported deceptive business practices.
State Position on Adult Content Regulation
Announcing the enforcement push in September, Uthmeier framed the lawsuits as part of a broader effort to restrict youth access to adult material.
“Florida is committed to being the best place to raise children,” Uthmeier said at the time. “We passed strong legislation to keep kids from being exposed to harmful and toxic material, and instead of following it, these platforms ignored it.”
The dismissal of the Segpay case marks a notable development in Florida’s ongoing legal campaign against adult industry companies and service providers, particularly payment processors that operate at the infrastructure level of online adult commerce.
