AUSTIN, TX — (December 16, 2025) — Concerns surrounding LGBTQ safety and civil rights have intensified across North Texas following a recent Arlington City Council vote that repealed the city’s anti-discrimination ordinance, a move that also led to the cancellation of Arlington Pride 2026.

Texas is home to the second-largest LGBTQ population in the United States, with more than two million residents identifying as LGBTQ. According to VisitDallas.com, North Texas alone accounts for more than 200,000 LGBTQ residents, making the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex one of the state’s most significant LGBTQ population centers.

North Texas LGBTQ Support Organizations

The Resource Center (Dallas)

The Resource Center connects LGBTQ individuals with LGBTQ-affirming health services, including gender-affirming care, HIV and STI testing, primary medical care, and mental health support.

The Help Center for LGBTQ Health (Arlington)

The Help Center provides free HIV and STD testing, prevention education, and comprehensive PrEP services, serving Arlington and surrounding communities.

LGBTQ Saves (Fort Worth)
