The announcement comes as the adult industry continues to navigate increased scrutiny from lawmakers, payment processors, and regulatory agencies, making the role of advocacy organizations like the Free Speech Coalition more critical than ever. FSC has remained at the forefront of defending free expression, supporting industry compliance, and providing legal and policy guidance to adult businesses, performers, and retailers across the United States.

Re-elected to the FSC Board are:

  • Jeffrey Douglas, Chair (Attorney)

  • Cathy Beardsley, Treasurer (President, SegPay)

  • Scott Watkins, Vice President (VP of Sales and Marketing, Doc Johnson)

  • Steven Grooby, Founder, Grooby Productions

  • Constance Penley, Professor, UC Santa Barbara

  • Jamie Rodriguez

  • Megan Stokes, Partner, NMG Management

Joining the Board as a newly elected member is David Eliason, owner of the adult retail chain Dick & Jane’s Naughty Spot, who fills the seat previously held by Lucy Hart. Eliason also serves on the leadership committee of the Sexual Wellness Professionals Association, bringing additional retail and advocacy experience to the Board.

“At a time when our industry and our rights are under attack, FSC is fortunate to have such a dedicated and experienced Board,” said Alison Boden, Executive Director of the Free Speech Coalition. “Our Board plays a critical role in shaping policy, fundraising, and industry engagement. I thank Lucy Hart for her years of service and look forward to working with our newest Board member.”

The newly confirmed Board will guide FSC’s advocacy, legal defense, and policy efforts through the 2026–27 term as the organization continues its mission to protect free expression and support the adult industry.

FSC’s Guidance to the Industry

FSC stresses that the law’s scope is unclear and may contradict federal frameworks. Companies are urged to review the statute with their legal counsel immediately to assess exposure, update compliance procedures, and prepare for potential takedown abuse.

FSC members can access industry-friendly attorneys through its Industry Professional Directory.
