LAS VEGAS, NV — (November 20, 2025) — Hammy Media, the parent company of xHamster, has agreed to pay a $120,000 settlement to resolve a lawsuit from the state of Texas alleging that the platform failed to comply with the state’s strict age verification (AV) requirements.

The lawsuit, originally filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in 2024, accused xHamster of offering ineffective age checks that allegedly allowed minors to bypass verification prompts. According to the complaint against xHamster, Texas claimed the site’s pop-up age gate could be dismissed by clicking outside the “I’m 18 or older” button, including the “X” in the corner of the notification — enabling access without any true verification.
Prosecutors initially sought up to $1.67 million in civil penalties, plus additional fines of up to $10,000 per day for the period following the lawsuit’s filing.
The case, like several others nationwide, was paused while the U.S. Supreme Court reviewed the constitutionality of state age-verification mandates in FSC v. Paxton. In March 2025, the Court ruled in favor of Texas, upholding the law and opening the door for states to resume or pursue enforcement actions against adult content platforms.

According to the agreed final order issued Nov. 7, Hammy Media restricted access to its site on March 21, 2024, shortly after the lawsuit was filed, and has since implemented full AV measures required under Texas law. The settlement resolves all claims without Hammy Media admitting any wrongdoing.
Texas has taken similar action against other major adult platforms. Chaturbate’s parent company, Multi Media, settled with the state in April 2024, while litigation against Pornhub parent company Aylo remains active.
