MONTREAL, QC — (October 2, 2025) — Pornhub’s parent company Aylo has confirmed that it will not block Ohio users from accessing its platforms, despite the state’s new age verification law that went into effect on September 30.

Confusion spread earlier this week when several media outlets reported that Aylo would shut off access in Ohio. However, the Montreal-based company clarified that Pornhub and its affiliate sites remain fully accessible to Ohio residents.
Aylo Pushes Back on State Mandate
In an official statement, Aylo explained its position under federal law:
“As a provider of an ‘interactive computer service’ as defined under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, it is our understanding that we are not subject to the obligations under section 1349.10 of the Ohio Revised Code regarding mandated age verification for the ‘interactive computer services’ we provide, such as Pornhub.”
The company added that while it supports protecting minors from adult content, laws must balance privacy and safety:
“We have publicly supported age verification of users for years. However, we believe that any law to this effect must preserve user safety and privacy and must effectively protect children from accessing content intended for adults.”
Industry-Wide Implications
Ohio’s law is the latest in a series of state-level age verification requirements that have created uncertainty for adult entertainment platforms and distributors. Pornhub has previously blocked access in Louisiana, Virginia, and Utah in response to similar laws, sparking national debates over privacy, censorship, and the future of online adult content regulation.
By choosing not to block Ohio, Aylo is signaling that it may pursue a different legal and operational strategy moving forward — one that challenges the scope of state laws under Section 230 protections.
This is a developing story — JRL CHARTS will continue monitoring the industry’s response and what it means for consumers, performers, and adult business stakeholders.
