Photos of Charlie Kirk Murder Suspect Released

SALT LAKE CITY — (September 11, 2025) — Utah authorities have released new, high-resolution photos of the man they describe as a “person of interest” in the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.

The Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) posted the updated images on social media Thursday, showing the suspect in far more detail than earlier blurred photos. In the new shots, the man is seen wearing a baseball cap, Converse-style shoes, sunglasses, and a distinctive Disabled Veterans National Foundation shirt. The shirt carries the patriotic caption: “Land of the Free, Home of the Brave,” along with an eagle draped over the American flag.

“We’re releasing additional photos of the person of interest in connection with the murder of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” Utah DPS announced. “Please send all tips available to us immediately.”

The suspect remains at large, and despite initial reports on Wednesday that someone was in custody, officials later admitted the individual had been released. That misstep has drawn fire at the federal level, with FBI Director Kash Patel accused of bungling the investigation after declaring the case solved — only for the alleged suspect to walk free less than two hours later.
