The controversy erupted after several outlets twisted remarks Snoop made on the It’s Giving podcast, spinning them into headlines that suggested he was against LGBTQ inclusion in children’s films. In reality, the rapper was describing how he was “caught off guard” when his grandson peppered him with questions during the screening.

Now, Snoop Dogg is setting the record straight. Responding in the comments of a Hollywood Unlocked Instagram post, he wrote:

“All my gay friends know what’s up, they been calling me with love. My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6-yr-old. Teach me how to learn. I’m not perfect.”

The Grammy-winner emphasized that he has many close friends in the LGBTQ community and that the backlash was pure fake drama manufactured for clicks.

Last week, JRL CHARTS reported on clips circulating where Snoop recounted being flustered by his grandson’s questions during a same-sex family montage in Lightyear. Those comments were quickly amplified into misleading headlines claiming he was “scared to go to the movies” because of LGBTQ themes — a narrative that ignored his intent.

By clarifying his stance, Snoop made it clear the issue wasn’t representation but rather being unprepared for a child’s questions. His candid apology and acknowledgment of his LGBTQ friends underscore the larger problem: clickbait culture weaponizing half-quotes for controversy.

As JRL CHARTS reported earlier, Lightyear featured Buzz’s best friend Alisha Hawthorne (voiced by Uzo Aduba) and her wife Kiko, a historic moment that sparked discussion across families. But in this case, the manufactured outrage overshadowed Snoop’s authentic message of love and learning.

With his response, the legendary rapper reminded fans that he is still learning, still evolving, and most importantly — still standing with his LGBTQ friends.
