NASHVILLE, TN — (August 20, 2025)  — The future of Nashville Pride is hanging in the balance after organizers revealed a staggering $300,000 funding shortfall, driven largely by longtime sponsors suddenly withdrawing support.

According to officials, nearly 40% of the festival’s major backers pulled out this year, with some cancelling just days before the late-June event. The cuts have left the city’s flagship LGBTQ+ celebration scrambling to cover costs, even as the event had planned to expand from two days of concerts to three.

One of the hardest blows came from Vanderbilt University Medical Center, which had volunteered to staff the medical tent. Just a month before the event, Vanderbilt cancelled, leaving organizers with a surprise $32,000 bill to cover the services on their own.

Compounding the financial crisis, heavy rains dampened attendance numbers, hitting revenue at the exact moment the festival was counting on record growth.

National Trend of Declining Support

Nashville Pride’s struggle is not isolated. LGBTQ organizations across the U.S. are seeing steep declines in corporate giving and volunteer support, part of a broader downturn in nonprofit contributions. While donations to charities are down nationwide, LGBTQ groups appear to be facing even sharper cuts as political polarization and economic caution weigh on sponsors.

Board Secretary Brady Ruffin emphasized the urgent need for community support, warning that without fresh funding commitments, the festival’s long-term survival could be in jeopardy.

Community Calls for Action

Despite the challenges, organizers remain determined to keep Nashville Pride alive. Local activists are urging supporters to rally behind the event through donations, volunteerism, and grassroots fundraising efforts.

“Pride has always been more than a party,” Ruffin said. “It’s about visibility, resilience, and community strength. We need Nashville to stand with us now more than ever.”
