LAS VEGAS — (August 10, 2025) — International pop sensation Conan Gray is serving fans another emotional knockout with the release of his latest single and music video, “Vodka Cranberry.”

Released July 11, 2025, the track marks the second single and third track from Gray’s anticipated fourth studio album, Wishbone. Interestingly, “Vodka Cranberry” was the final song completed for the album — and also the most challenging.

Producer Dan Nigro revealed that the song’s creation involved two complete production remakes. Originally sung an octave lower with an anti-chorus structure, the track just didn’t land. The final version, in a new key, unlocked Gray’s soaring high note in the bridge — now a standout moment in the song.

A Story of Love, Distance & Heartbreak

Lyrically, “Vodka Cranberry” captures the bittersweet ache of noticing a partner’s change in affection after taking a break. While some listeners have speculated connections to Gray’s earlier track “Alley Rose”, the singer has not confirmed any link.

The single’s rollout was a slow-burn tease:

  • May 22, 2025 – Title reveal alongside Wishbone album announcement

  • June 25, 2025 – 33-second snippet drops on Instagram and TikTok sound libraries

  • July 4, 2025 – Official release date announcement

  • July 5, 2025 – Live debut at Open’er Festival in Gdynia, Poland

When “Vodka Cranberry” dropped on July 11, it debuted at #92 on Top Songs USA with 1.37 million streams — Gray’s biggest debut to date. By July 14, it had entered his Top 10 on Spotify (peaking at #4) and hit U.S. radio on July 15. By July 22, it climbed to #24 on Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100, putting it on the brink of becoming his second entry on the Billboard Hot 100 after “Heather”.

The Visual Story Continues

Directed by Danica Kleinknecht, the “Vodka Cranberry” music video stars Gray alongside Corey Fogelmanis, reprising their roles as Wilson and Brando from the “This Song” video.

In the clip, Brando grows increasingly distant from Wilson during the last week of summer. After an emotional argument, Brando leaves while Wilson sleeps — suggesting lingering love overshadowed by fear. The morning after, a devastated Wilson searches for him, the ending leaving fans in emotional tatters.

With its heartfelt storytelling, meticulous production, and stunning visual continuation of Gray’s narrative universe, “Vodka Cranberry” is proving to be more than just a summer single — it’s a certified hit in both streaming numbers and fan devotion.
