LAS VEGAS — (July 20, 2025) — Reclaim the Flag — the powerful new short film from designer Alexis Bittar and Oscar-winning producer Bruce Cohen — is reigniting the national debate over what the American flag represents in 2025.

In the official trailer that just dropped on YouTube, nearly 50 LGBTQ leaders, icons, and cultural changemakers come together to ask a burning question: “How do we reclaim a symbol that’s been weaponized against us?”
“The American flag once stood for our collective freedom. Now, for many LGBTQ Americans, it evokes fear,” said Bittar in the documentary.
The 30-minute documentary, which premiered July 17 on the Reclaim the Flag YouTube channel, features emotional and candid commentary from:

• Lena Waithe (Emmy-Winning Producer)
• Darren Walker (Ford Foundation President)
• Bill T. Jones (Legendary Choreographer)
From trans rights and racial justice to queerness and patriotism, the film explores how LGBTQ Americans are reclaiming power, space, and yes—the flag itself.
