WASHINGTON, D.C. — (04-07-25) — We can now confirm that the Trump administration has cancelled over $125Mm in LGBTQ health research funding, collapsing the nation’s LGBTQ research by cancelling over 270 grants that totalled $125 million.

While the country has been consumed with the stock market crashing, LGBTQ military veterans being erased from history, the Trump administration has continued its war on the LGBTQ community by sending out vague cancellation letters that say “The research in question no longer suits NIH priorities”.

This fall in line with Trump’s executive order that effectively bars recognition of transgender identities and another forbidding diversity, equity and inclusion, or DEI, initiatives.

On top of that, last Tuesday mass layoffs across the Department of Health and Human Services included the gutting of programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that surveil the HIV epidemic among gay men in particular, according to a CDC official who asked to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals.

The Trump administration’s dark age ideology has also eliminated a lab that conducts specialized testing and assessment for drug resistance. Among those tests were bacterial sexually transmitted infections that included syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia. Aall of which are especially prevalent in gay men.

Brian Mustanski, a pioneer in LGBTQ health research and a psychologist and director of the Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health and Wellbeing at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago – told NBC News…“This has been a devastating experience,”.

Mustanski built his program into a powerhouse, with his team cultivating some of the most robust data on gay and trans Americans in history. Now, he’s seen much of the institute topple in weeks and has been desperately seeking other positions for many of the half of his 120-person team who were supported by the grants.
