INDIANAPOLIS, IN — (11-15-24) — U.S. Appeals Court for the Indiana has upheld the state’s law banning the use of puberty blockers and hormones for transgender children under the age of 18.
On Wednesday, the 2-1 decision by the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals came as the U.S. Supreme Court prepares to hear a challenge to a similar law in Tennessee. That case may ultimately determine whether all state laws banning the practice can be enforced.
The 7th Circuit had already ruled that the law could take effect in February while it considered the challenge by families of transgender children and healthcare providers, reversing a lower court order blocking law.
The American Civil Liberties Union who is currently representing the plaintiffs, did not responded to a request for comment for this article.
