WASHINGTON, D.C. — (05-17-24) — The US State Department and FBI have issued a Terrorist Attack warning for LGBT Americans scheduled to attend PRIDE Events domestically and Internationally in May and June. The warning was issued on Friday, saying that LGBT Pride Event attendees could face violence from foreign terrorist who are against LGBTQ+ people celebrating PRIDE Events worldwide.
“Due to the potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations, or violent actions against US citizens and interests, the Department of State advises US citizens overseas to exercise increased caution,” the department said in a Statement.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement people in the LGBTQ+ community “continue to face insidious forms of stigma and discrimination.”
The alert comes two weeks before the start of LGBTQ+ Pride Month in the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Spain, Germany and the United Kingdom.
