WASHINGTON, D.C. — (05-15-24) — In a shock to the Biden Administration, openly gay Jewish staffer, Lily Greenberg Call, becomes the first Jewish staffer to publicly resign in protest of the US’s continued support for Israel war on Gaza, The Associated Press news agency reported.
Lily Greenberg Call, who served as a special assistant to the chief of staff in the US Interior Department, wrote in her resignation letter that she could not “in good conscience continue to represent” the administration.
She had worked for the presidential campaigns of both President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, and was a longtime activist and advocate for Israel in Washington D.C., and elsewhere before joining the Biden administration.
Call is also the second political appointee to resign, after an education department official of Palestinian heritage resigned in January. She is at least the fifth mid to senior-level administration staffer to make public their resignation in protest of the Biden administration’s military and diplomatic support of the now seven-month Israeli war against Hamas, a terrorist group that brutally attacked Israel on Oct 7, 2023.
