PHILADELPHIA, PA — (05-13-24) — The trooper who was caught on video allegedly assaulting the head of Philadelphia’s LGBT affairs and her husband during a traffic stop is no longer with the Pennsylvania State Police Department, according to Pennsylvania State Police spokesman Lt. Adam Reed.

It is still unclear whether the trooper, whose name has still not been released, was either fired or if he resigned, but the trooper was out effective Friday, Pennsylvania State Police spokesman Lt. Adam Reed confirmed to JRL CHARTS LGBT Politics.

The trooper had been placed on restricted duty following the March 2 incident that went viral. Celena Morrison, executive director of the City’s Office of LGBT Affairs, recorded the incident of her husband Darius McLean’s arrest on the Vine Street Expressway.

Morrison can be heard in the video repeatedly saying, “That is my husband,” while McLean is on the ground. She’s then heard saying, “I work for the mayor.” “It’s ‘cause I’m Black,” said McLean in the video.

The unnamed trooper responds, “It’s not ‘cause you’re Black.”

The former trooper then walks toward Morrison and the camera goes unstable.

In a news conference days after the incident, Morrison explained her comments by saying…“Fearing the worst was about to happen, I yelled out to the officer I work for the mayor multiple times hoping that would make him realize he was dealing with people he did not need to be afraid of,” said Morrison.

Thankfully that trooper is no longer on the street.
