IOWA CITY, IA — (01-07-24) — Police arrested Tricia Stonehouse Shelly last Tuesday for allegedly stealing adult toys off the shelf at the highly popular Romantix adult store located at 315 Kirkwood Avenue in Iowa City (Map It).
According to the criminal complaint filed, authorities say that Tricia Stonehouse Shelly, 49, of Eldridge, is being charged with 4th degree theft after an incident that took place at Romantix on Tuesday Jan 2, 2024 around 4 p.m.
Police allege that Shelly entered the adult store, grabbed several adult toy products from the shelves, and ran out the front door. Romantix employees told police that they initially ran after Shelly and tried to confront her, but she was able to jump into a vehicle and drove away, according to investigators.
Luckily she was stopped by police a short time later, where police said they found the stolen items in her vehicle. According to police Shelly admitted to stealing sex toy items which have a commercial value totally $445.
