SEOUL, KR — (07-16-22) — Seoul Queer Culture Festival and Pride Parade attracted over 15,000 attendees, according to the Yonhap News Agency. The massive LGBT Pride Festival took place in downtown Seoul on Saturday, as Christian and conservative groups held a rally in protest across the street.
The Pride Festival had over 72 booths that consisted of human rights groups, university LGBT clubs, embassies, food outlets, and progressive organizations.
U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Philip Goldberg, attended the festival to show his support and told the crowd…”To express the strong commitment of the United States to ending discrimination wherever it occurs and ensuring that everyone is treated with respect and humanity, we simply cannot leave any of you behind. We’re going to fight with you for equality and human rights.” Goldberg told the crowd.
