ROME — (12-14-21) — Vatican’s General Secretariat for the Synod of Bishops apologized to leading Catholic LGBTQ advocacy group New Ways Ministry for having yanked a reference to it on the Vatican’s official website.
The New Ways Ministry resource link was taken down earlier this month without explanation however, suspicion quickly fell on the U.S. bishops conference which is headed by conservatives who have launched a never ending anti-LGBTQ campaign in the USA and, their continued pressure campaign on the New Ways Ministry to alienate them from the church as much as possible.
The apology and restoration of the LGBTQ resource drew immediate praise Monday from New Way Ministry as an “historic” move by the Vatican to repair the painful rift the Catholic hierarchy’s doctrine and the gay community have experienced for years.
The Vatican’s General Secretariat for the Synod of Bishops, which is organizing a two-year consultation of rank-and-file Catholics ahead of the 2023 bishops at the Vatican conference. The LGBTQ reference to New Ways Ministry was restored over the weekend.
