LOS ANGELES — (08-25-21) — OnlyFans abruptly reverses its decision to ban sexually explicit content after receiving major backlash from creators and sex workers on its platform.
The London-based OnlyFans announcement to ban adult content on August 19th ignited a huge firestorm from creators and sex workers who rely on the platform as a source of income. The social media platform was getting pressured to drop sexually explicit content from its platform in part because of pressure from ‘banking and merchant services’.
OnlyFans announced their reversal via Twitter on August 25.
“We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change. OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators.”
