WASHINGTON D.C. – (11-27-20) – President-elect Joe Biden has announced openly gay man Carlos Elizondo as the incoming White House Social Secretary. Elizondo becomes the second openly gay man named to the position throughout its history.
Elizondo is no stranger to Joe Biden as he was special assistant to President Barack Obama and social secretary to Biden and his wife, Jill, during the entire eight years of the Obama/Biden administration.
Elizondo also makes history by becoming the first Hispanic-American to hold the position of White House Social Secretary, according to an announcement from the Biden transition team.
Elizondo’s responsibilities will include planning and overseeing all events hosted by the Biden family, including those events involving members of business leaders, celebrities, congressional leaders and foreign dignitaries.
