Jeffrey Epstein Commits Suicide by Hanging in Manhattan Jail

NEW YORK, NY — (08-10-19) — Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein who was facing Federal Sex trafficking charges was found dead in his cell in the early morning hours on Saturday.

The wealthy financier and sex offender was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell, where he was awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

Epstein was arrested and charged in New York with sex trafficking dozens of underage girls. Epstein pleaded not guilty to the charges in July, and has been in custody at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Lower Manhattan since the court refused to grant him bail.

According to sources familiar with the case, Epstein hung himself and his body was found Saturday morning at around 7:30 a.m.

Epstein, 66, had been on suicide watch since he was found unresponsive in his cell back in July. The marks on his neck at the time were believed to have been self inflicted.
