SAO PAULO, BRAZIL — Over head shots of the crowds at the 2017 Sao Paulo Gay Pride parade was one for the record books as hundreds of thousands of the LGBTQ community gathered in Sao Paulo ths past Sunday what organizers called, “The threat of religious fundamentalism to Brazil’s LGBT community”.

Under a giant LGBTQ Rainbow Flag, participants of all ages, race and genres, turned the city’s Paulista avenue into an event that will be talked about for years to come. The multicolored clothes, sets and shops were filled with people that stretched out to 10 city blocks.
Organizers said that they number of people in attendance is expected to hit 3 million people for Sao Paulo’s 21st annual gay pride parade. The military police who were on hand did not release their crowd estimates.

The city council of Sao Paulo released a statement to the press that it had invested over $400,000 in infrastructure for the 21st annual gay pride parade. Tourists from all over Brazil and Latin America flew in to Sao Paulo to attend the celebration.
